Petition Action

Ban the media from allowing online comments about deceased prisoners

Petition Details

Ban online comments from being switched on regarding articles related to prisoners' death on social media. This would help prevent further trauma to the families of the deceased especially in cases involving homicide/suicide.

Additional Information

In cases where news organisations post these stories on social media and have comments switched on, this can result in hateful comments and the families involved can suffer hurt/trauma. This happens often and can affect any family who are going through a death in custody.
