Mandate disabled people be guaranteed free access to council car parks

Petition Details

We believe disabled people should have free access to council owned car parks by law to help access work, shopping and leisure. In some councils blue-badge holders must pay for parking in council car-parks, which we do not think is right and legislation is needed.

Additional Information

In our view, making disabled people pay for parking unfairly targets disabled residents & visitors who rely on accessible parking to work, shop, attend appointments, volunteer & participate in communities. Removing these spaces can create physical, financial and emotional barriers, undermining equality legislation & inclusion. The disabled must not be penalised for mobility needs beyond their control.
