Require schools to allow pupils reasonable access to toilets during lessons
Introduce legislation and national guidance requiring schools to allow pupils reasonable access to toilets during lessons when needed. Whilst still allowing schools to manage misuse when appropriate.
Some schools restrict toilet access during lessons, forcing pupils to wait long periods of time before they can use a bathroom. Some schools even lock the bathrooms.
This can cause discomfort, embarrassment and possible health issues such as Urinary Tract Infection. Pupils with conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Crohn's Disease may be especially affected. We believe pupils should have reasonable access to toilets to protect their health, dignity and ability to focus on learning.
