Petition Action

Remove parental rights from those found guilty of a child sexual abuse crimes

Petition Details

To have automatic removal a parental rights from someone who is found guilty of child sexual abuse either directly or indirectly.
There has to be a change in our justice system as very few paedophiles are being convicted and the numbers are growing. Removal of parental rights, protect our children.

Additional Information

It is frightening the vast numbers of these criminals in our communities. There is little to put them off,  as very few are being sentenced and the time on the sex offenders register is minimal.
Families left trying to recover and protect their children (following a conviction) are now being taken to court for access due to the guilty party exercising their 'parental rights'. Where are the rights of the thousands of innocent children? We ask the Government to do something.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government has tabled an amendment to the Victims and Courts Bill. This will mean that someone guilty of a child sexual abuse crime will lose parental responsibility of their child. This bill is going through its final stages in Parliament and is expected to become law soon.

You can read the Government's announcement about this here: www.gov.uk/government/news/thousands-of-children-protected-from-abuse-under-victim-reforms
