Petition Action

Scrap the Humber Bridge Toll charge.

Petition Details

The Humber Bridge has increased toll charges, changed to an app which most elderly drivers cannot use, fined huge numbers of drivers for not paying fees, due to this change in app. Some fines being in region of £1500.
The whole system does not seem to work, and the bridge should be free to cross

Additional Information

The bridge is poorly managed, with often one lane closed, or blocked. Traffic builds up on the North bound side between the toll booths and the Wingfield Farm Roundabout. There are often queues. The admin side is inefficient, with the app either charging people twice for their journeys, or not at all, and that driver incurs a fine. This may happen to the same driver several times, accumulating fines totalling £1500. Drivers ringing to make payment are often on hold for nearly an hour

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about this are a matter for the Humber Bridge Boar, not the UK Government or Parliament.
