Petition Action

Make MP's Wages attendance based

Petition Details

Make the Percentage of sessions attended within a year the percentage of the wage there is paid, unless the absence is authorised by the speaker or 1922 committee and for a fair reason.

Additional Information

I feel like this should be done to ensure a fair representation of all the constituents in an area, it is systematically unjust that an elected official can claim 98 thousand pounds of taxpayer money per year yet have nine other side hustles and simply not attend parliamentary sessions there are some members who have missed over 50% of votes and therefore are not fairly representing their constituents

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
