Make organ donation education a mandatory part of the curriculum in England.
We want the Government to reclassify organ donation education as a statutory requirement within the RSHE guidance, replacing 'should' with 'must' to ensure consistent delivery across all schools in England.
The revised RSHE guidance (July 2025) coming into force in September 2026 states that pupils "should" know the science of donation. "should" lacks the weight of a mandatory requirement. England operates an "opt-out" donation system for adults, it is vital that every student receives consistent, factual education to make informed choices. By making this statutory, the Government can address misconceptions early and significantly improve consent rates - especially among diverse student populations

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education guidance published by the Department for Education in July 2025 states that:
"Schools must have regard to the guidance, and where they depart from those
parts of the guidance which state that they should (or should not) do something they will need to have good reasons for doing so."
