Stop the Bank of England replacing historical figures on banknotes with wildlife
The Bank of England is replacing historical figures (including Churchill, Austen, Turner and Turing) with wildlife such as animals and plants or landscapes. The Government should stop this erosion of proud British history and keep historical figures on banknotes.
Our banknotes should fill us with national pride every day.
British heroes like Churchill, who defended freedom in our darkest hour, literary geniuses like Austen, pioneering scientists like Turing, and visionary artists like Turner remind us who we are and what we have achieved.
These brilliant figures are unique to the United Kingdom and should be celebrated. We should not erase our history.
Sign this petition to protect our national pride and preserve Britain's heroes on our money.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Bank notes are the responsibility of the Bank of England, which is independent of the Government and Parliament.
