Introduce baby boxes like in Scotland across the UK
All families expecting a child should receive a box with essentials, such as clothes, nappies, toys, books, bottles, and toiletries for their child. Like with the current Scottish scheme, the box itself should also be able to be used as a sleep space for the baby if necessary.
All children should get a fair start in life regardless of their family's situation, and providing baby boxes will aid this. When the Scottish government rolled out this scheme, they found that 84% of parents found the leaflet on safe sleeping helpful, and 91% agreed that 'Getting a baby box has saved me money on things I would otherwise have had to buy'. This shows that baby boxes are very useful in setting children up for success early.
