Make it a requirement for all institutions to caption videos they show/publish
Parliament should pass a law to require all public and private sector organisations, charities and businesses to caption any videos they show or publish to ensure equal access for Deaf and HoH people and remove the pre-existing negative stigma towards subtitles.
Deaf and HoH people have been concerned on their ability to survive and integrate into public spaces for decades due to the lack of accessibility. Making captioning a legal requirement improves accessibility for all, not just Deaf/HoH individuals. This will ensure that Deaf/HoH people feel included and can operate in society as well as able bodied members. We think it will also help to close the disability employment gap.
