Petition Action

Review and Remove statues glorifying colonial conquest in British India

Petition Details

Conduct a national review of statues honouring figures involved in the colonisation of the Indian subcontinent, and look to relocate them to museums where they can be properly contextualised.

Additional Information

These Statues were erected when the imperial expansion and colonisation was widely celebrated in Britain. Many of those depicted as states were involved in military campaigns.
Modern Britain is a diverse society, for many communities, statues celebrating figures associated with colonial conquest represent a difficult historical legacy rather than shared national values. We believe taking this action could ensure public spaces are righteously safe.
