Petition Action

Change the law, so that UK citizens can force an immediate General Election

Petition Details

At present a vote of no confidence can only be called by parliament, leaving majority governments in an almost untouchable position. This means that governments can break promises or make decisions that are destructive to the country, and the electorate can do nothing until the next election.

Additional Information

Because the current government does not represent the best interests of the working, tax paying, law abiding British citizen. We can’t continue like this until the next general election, this is to mitigate the potential of civil unrest and more potential cover ups by the current government, they’re pushing agendas that were never voted for and stripping away more and more rights of the average British citizen.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's not clear to us from your petition how the people would express their lack of confidence in the Government. There is a similar petition already open which includes a mechanism for this to be effected which you may wish to sign:

Give people a vote of confidence in their MP 18 months after a general election: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/758722
