Petition Action

Strengthen sentencing guidelines for extreme animal cruelty cases

Petition Details

I ask that courts consider immediate custodial sentences and lifetime animal ownership bans in cases involving extreme suffering or multiple animals.

Additional Information

After reading about a case where 23 cats were trapped in a bin and the person responsible received a suspended sentence and a 10 year ban on keeping cats and dogs, I believe stronger sentencing should be considered for severe animal cruelty cases.

Recent cases involving mass suffering of animals have resulted in suspended sentences, which many members of the public feel do not reflect the severity of the harm caused.
