Petition Action

Require the Prime Minister to give direct answers at PMQs

Petition Details

Reform Prime Minister’s Questions to require direct answers. Too often, MPs’ questions are met with deflection or irrelevant responses. Give the Speaker stronger powers to compel clear, relevant answers from the Prime Minister to ensure proper scrutiny and restore public confidence.

Additional Information

Prime Minister’s Questions should be about scrutiny and accountability, not political point scoring. Too often, questions from opposition MPs, who represent millions of voters, are met with deflection or attacks rather than clear answers. This weakens trust in Parliament and increases division. Requiring direct, relevant responses would improve transparency, encourage more constructive debate, and ensure public concerns are properly addressed.
