Reverse the withdrawal of funding for security and leadership apprenticeships
Reverse the withdrawal of funding for key security and leadership apprenticeships. Maintain funding for relevant programmes, consult with industry, and ensure apprenticeship policy supports sectors facing rising pressure due to for example crime and operational risks.
We believe security professionals are critical to protecting people, businesses, and communities, particularly as retail crime rises. In our view apprenticeships improve standards, support progression, and develop future leaders. Removing them risks weakening frontline capability and limiting leadership development. With over £3bn in levy funds returned, we think the issue is allocation, not the amount of funding available. Investment in skills must align with crime reduction goals.
