Protect graves of all UK military veterans from reuse under new burial proposals
Amend proposed reforms to burial law to permanently protect all UK military veterans’ graves from reuse, regardless of CWGC or MoD status, and create a national register allowing families to designate and safeguard graves of those who served.
Many veterans, including those from WWII, the Falklands, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan, are not buried in CWGC or MoD graves due to technicalities. Proposed grave reuse laws risk their resting places being disturbed after 100 years. These men and women served their country and deserve permanent dignity in death. We believe families should not face the possibility of their loved ones being erased due to administrative gaps.
