Roll out Meningitis B vaccinations, for age groups 18-25 with the NHS for all UK
Extend current vaccination policy to include young adults who were not eligible for routine MenB vaccination when it was introduced in 2015. This would address the existing immunity gap and help reduce the risk of outbreaks in higher risk environments such as universities.
Many students and young adults cannot afford the private MenB vaccine, which can cost over £200. This creates unequal access to protection against a potentially serious disease.
While MenACWY vaccination is offered to teenagers and university students, MenB is not routinely available to this age group despite the risk in shared living environments. Expanding access would improve public health protection and reduce preventable cases.
