Petition Action

Require the Prime Minister to give direct answers at PMQs

Petition Details

We want changes to parliamentary procedure to ensure that responses given by the Prime Minister during PMQs address the question asked. This could include strengthening guidance on relevance or allowing follow-up where a question has not been answered.

Additional Information

PMQs is intended to allow MPs to scrutinise the Prime Minister and hold the Government to account. When questions are not directly answered, this reduces transparency and weakens confidence in the process. Clearer expectations would improve accountability and public trust.
