Stop the Make Tax Digital and keep the self assessment as it is.
Stop the rollout of Making Tax Digital for self-employed and low-income workers
We want the UK Government to halt the rollout of Making Tax Digital for self-employed individuals and low-income workers.
Many freelancers, sole traders, and those in irregular work—such as in the creative industries—face additional administrative burdens, costs for software, and time pressures that Making Tax Digital would significantly increase. This policy risks disproportionately affecting those with unstable incomes, without clear evidence of benefit to them.
The government doesn't realise how many sole traders will stop being self employed and how many small business will close because of the extra stress.
