Mandate frontline emergency service staff training on mental health crises

Petition Details

Mandate mandatory training for all frontline emergency service staff to recognise and handle mental crisis situations, especially if someone is in immediate danger. This training should include training on mental health awareness.

Additional Information

We believe there is currently a very fractured and scattered knowledge amongst emergency service staff regarding handling mental health crisis situations, and very often, the emergency services are the first people somebody sees or talks to when they or somebody they care about is in a mental health crisis. This fractured knowledge could cost lives. By ensuring all staff are trained properly, they could potentially save many more lives.
