Record and report use of isolation and behaviour rooms for discipline
Require schools to record and report every use of isolation or behaviour rooms for disciplinary reasons, including duration, reason, and whether the pupil has SEND.
Pupils are often removed from lessons into isolation or behaviour rooms for discipline, sometimes repeatedly, leading to significant loss of education. There is no consistent national requirement to record how often this occurs, how long pupils miss teaching, or whether vulnerable groups such as pupils with SEND are disproportionately affected. Recording and reporting would improve transparency, safeguarding and accountability.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
According to statutory guidance from the Department for Education, governing bodies of maintained schools and the proprietors of other schools already must
ensure that a procedure is in place for recording each seclusion or restraint incident as part of the school’s duty under the Schools (Recording and Reporting of Seclusion and Restraint) (No. 2) (England) Regulations 2025.
This must be recorded and reported.
