Petition Action

Exempt military families from paying stamp duty when moving homes

Petition Details

Exempt military families from paying stamp duty when moving homes (e.g. after paying stamp duty for the first time, it is not incurred on subsequent moves).

Additional Information

Many military personnel move frequently, and although subsidised housing is an option if eligible, military families may prefer to own property for reasons such as being on the property ladder. We believe stamp duty expenses are not an equitable or reasonable cost to incur for military families who may have to move every 2-3 years.
