Petition Action

Require social workers for soldiers and veterans with PTSD who have families

Petition Details

We call on the UK Government to introduce new regulations to ensure that all soldiers and veterans diagnosed with PTSD who have dependent families are automatically assigned a dedicated social worker. We would like this to be known as "James law".

Additional Information

PTSD can affect entire families, not just the individual. Partners and children often become untrained carers. In our view, a lack of support can lead to: Family breakdown, Domestic conflict and Child safeguarding concerns. We think early intervention with a social worker could reduce long-term strain on NHS and social services, improve recovery outcomes and keep families together.
