Regulate podcast platforms to prevent the spread of misogyny and harmful content
Strengthen regulation of podcast and social media platforms to meet minimum editorial standards, strengthen oversight & prevent algorithmic promotion of harmful content, in order to delegitimise misinformation and dangerous ideologies which endanger not just women and protected groups, but everyone.
With growing concern around under-16’s access to social media we should be equally concerned about content they have unlimited access to via podcasts
With such influence and access to individuals there must be equal responsibility and accountability for podcasters.
A recent YouGov study found misogyny in schools is a big problem and teachers report it's worsening.
With Ofcom now holding powers to regulate global streaming services we question why this has not been extended to podcasting platforms.
