Reinstate and fund Botox injections treatments for Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction
We want the Government to ensure that Botox injections are available and funded on the NHS for all patients diagnosed with SOD. This treatment should be recognized as a vital intervention for pain management and as a diagnostic tool before more invasive surgeries like sphincterotomy
Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction causes debilitating abdominal pain and digestive issues. For many, Botox injections are the only effective way to manage spasms without the high risks associated with permanent surgical procedures. Currently, access to this treatment is inconsistent or unavailable across many NHS trusts. Patients are being left in chronic pain with limited options, affecting their ability to work and live. The Government should mandate standardized access to this treatment.
