Petition Action

Hold Ministers including the Prime Minister accountable to Parliament

Petition Details

Require the Speaker (or Deputy Speaker) to require Ministers to respond to questions. Recently, the Speaker is not intervening at Prime Ministers Questions when the current Prime Minister is clearly not responding to questions.

Additional Information

It is important that the Government is answerable to Parliament.

Recently, the Speaker has not held Government ministers to account which is in contrast to how the Speaker intervened when previous Prime Minsters e.g. Boris Johnson evaded questions.

This creates a perception of a two tier political process which is unhelpful for our democracy.
