Petition Action

Mandate suspension of police officers under investigation for serious injuries

Petition Details

Change the Police Conduct Regulations 2020 to make suspension mandatory for any officer under investigation for incidents causing serious injury. This should apply automatically where an independent review finds evidence of a cover-up or the withholding of material evidence.

Additional Information

Current laws allow officers to stay on duty even when suspected of serious misconduct. We believe public trust is destroyed when officers keep their job and powers while being investigated for near-fatal injuries or acts of misconduct. We believe we need mandatory suspension now.
