Petition Action

Give Early Parole or Deportation for Certain Life Prisoners in the UK

Petition Details

The UK stands for justice and human rights, yet many life-sentence prisoners remain in custody for excessive periods despite clear evidence of rehabilitation and reform. We ask the Ministry of Justice to introduce a structured review process allowing tariff reductions, early parole or deportation.

Additional Information

We urge Government to prioritise reviews for life prisoners who meet one or more of the criteria, after serving half of their tariff :
1. Were convicted below the age of 21 without previous criminal records.
2. Are foreign nationals serving life sentences in the UK.
3. Convicted under the Joint Enterprise law.
4. Demonstrated consistent good behaviour and genuine rehabilitation.

This reform would support rehabilitation, reduce overcrowding, and reflect a more humane and balanced justice system.
