Immediately halt plans to introduce the £2.20/10ml vaping duty
We want the Government to scrap this planned duty entirely, to find better and more effective ways to combat underage vaping like significantly higher penalties on retailers that sell to minors, rather than potentially destroy an entire industry. The planned duty could put 17000 people out of work.
The UK Vaping Industry is worth £2.8 Billion annually. With a contribution to the exchequer of £310 Million. The industry supports over 17,000 jobs. The planner duty will take a £10 100ml 0mg shortfill bottle to a astronomical £32. Or £36.40 incl. nic shots. This is approximately 1 weeks worth of e-liquid for most vapers using mods. In comparison, a 30g pouch if Amber Leaf tobacco currently sits at around £28. 30g being a typical 1 week supply. This duty is likely to drive people to smoke again.
