Make St George’s Day an Official Bank Holiday in England
Create an official bank holiday in England to mark St George’s Day on 23 April, celebrating England’s rich national identity, history, traditions, culture, and heritage.
England is the only country in the UK without a dedicated holiday for its patron saint. Scotland, Ireland, and Wales all have them. Introducing a bank holiday for St George’s Day would bring England in line with the rest of the country.
This day would provide an opportunity for English people to unite and celebrate our history and traditions, for a nation built over thousands of years.
We wish for HM Government to designate St George’s Day as a public bank holiday in England.
