Petition Action

Require all police forces to review serious cold cases within 5–10 years

Petition Details

Require all police forces in England and Wales to review serious cold cases within 5–10 years. This should be called 'Stacey’s Law’.

End the postcode lottery, protect vital evidence, give families a fair, timely chance at justice.

Additional Information

Support ‘Stacey’s Law’ so no victim is forgotten and no other family waits 33 years for justice

Families can wait decades for justice while evidence degrades and witnesses are lost. With no national rule, we’re concerned that reviews depend on funding and location, creating a postcode lottery.
Police and Crime Commissioners who currently decide will soon leave post due to government changes, we believe now is the time to act.
‘Stacey’s Law’ would ensure timely, fair reviews and protect every victim’s chance of justice.”
