Remove VAT from fuel purchases. VAT is charged ontop of fuel duty.
The UK government should STOP charging VAT on Fuel costs. We already pay fuel duty at 52.95 Pence per Litre of petrol or diesel with 5p set to be added back on in 2026. You pay 20% VAT on top of this cost, this means we are being taxed twice and at a rate of around 60% of the cost per litre.
We urge the UK government to VAT EXCEMPT any an all petrol and diesel prices, this would play an essential part in driving down inflation and cutting costs helping the Government achieve their targets. It would also reduce the burden and stress by lowering hauliers costs, making products cheaper on the shelves for consumers. Given the recent issues with Iran and high fuel costs caused there needs to be reform to help everyday working families who cannot afford basics.
