Petition Action

Apologise for the Balfour Declaration and fund the teaching of its legacy

Petition Details

We ask the Government to issue a formal apology for the Balfour Declaration and Britain’s actions in Mandate-era Palestine, and to commit to funding educational initiatives that acknowledge this history. This should include public resources and curriculum support reflecting Britain’s role.

Additional Information

We believe Britain’s policies from 1917-1948 shaped events that led to the displacement of Palestinians and left a legacy still felt today. Many MPs, legal experts and historians have argued that Britain failed to uphold the rights of the Palestinian population. A formal apology could offer symbolic justice, while investment in education - both in the UK and internationally- could ensure this history is accurately taught, understood, and not forgotten by future generations.
