Petition Action

Stop letting agents charging landlords to forward the free RRA Information Sheet

Petition Details

Amend Schedule 6, Para 7(3) of the Renters' Rights Act 2025 to let landlords serve the Information Sheet themselves and satisfy the duty for both parties. Update GOV.UK guidance to clarify where an agent serves it, this is part of their existing management duties, not a separate chargeable service.

Additional Information

The RRA Information Sheet is a free 4-page government PDF landlords must give tenants by 31 May 2026. No tenancy agreement needs to change. Yet some agents charge landlords £100-200+ per tenancy to forward it, sometimes calling it an "addendum" when none is required.

Schedule 6, Para 7(3) creates a duplicate duty: agents must also serve the sheet, even if the landlord already has. We believe this lets agents charge for a task taking minutes, and these costs then reach tenants via higher rents — defeating the Act's aim.
