Petition Action

Review school absence fines & pricing practices during school holidays

Petition Details

Launch a review into school absence fines and pricing practices during school holidays. The review should look into transparency rules on airlines regarding pricing, Air Passenger Duty, and how school holidays affect the market.

Additional Information

Many parents are constantly faced with a dilemma: either paying significantly higher travel costs during school holidays or being fined and/or prosecuted for taking their children out of school during the school year. Travel prices (especially flights) are much higher during school holiday periods. We feel this situation leads to unfair financial pressure on families, reduced access to family time and rest, and inequality in society.
