Introduce licensing and enforce safety rules for cyclists to reduce accidents
We call on the Government to introduce cyclist licensing and enforce safety rules to prevent accidents. Cyclists should use lights at night, follow traffic signals, and know the Highway Code. Stricter rules and education, and accountability will make roads safer for everyone.
Too many people are injured or killed by cyclists who break basic road rules. Cars cannot always avoid reckless cyclists riding without lights, running red lights, or ignoring safety rules. Mandatory licensing, training, stricter enforcement, and required lights, reflective gear, and safety education would save lives, protect drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, and make our roads safer for everyone.
