Stop the potential closure of Westfield Biomass Plant
The government has announced that it will be pulling funding in relation to renewable energies as their obligation ceases in 2027. This will directly affect Westfield Biomass in Fife, posing job losses and a step backwards in Scotland’s renewable energy infrastructure. We cannot let this happen.
Extend the funding and review the potential to repurpose the facility to use carbon capture technology rather than closing an entire plant. Consider the effects on the environment and the global movement to work against climate change. Climate change does not simply go away purely because a Government funding obligation dictates so. Allow the decision to be made by the devolved Scottish Government as we have the right to decide how Scotland progresses to a greener future.
