Restore flexible refund policy for National Rail tickets
Reinstate the previous National Rail refund policy allowing refunds within 28 days of the ticket date. Require operators to offer flexible refund or credit options
The current policy only allows refunds before the day of travel, which is too restrictive. Many passengers face unexpected events such as illness, work changes, or delays beyond their control. This leads to unnecessary financial loss and discourages use of public transport. A fair and flexible system would better protect passengers and reflect real travel needs.
