Petition Action

Implement restricted airspace around all active emergency service incidents.

Petition Details

There is an increase in drone footage being shared online of potentially serious life threatening incidents, in some instances affecting the use of emergency services' own aircraft. I would propose that for all incidents and immediate 100m no-fly-zone is enacted to allow emergency services to work.

Additional Information

What dealing with a recent man-in-water situation I observed a social media post where the local fire service had found it necessary to request people ground their drones in the area as People using them to observe the ongoing incident were creating a situation where coast guard and police helicopters were Not able to operate to maximum efficiency. This is not an isolated incident it is not uncommon to see drone footage circulating on social media before family members have been told.
