Government to introduce structured, supervised vocational work in year 9-11
We want the UK Government to introduce structured, supervised vocational and work experience programmes for students aged 13–16 (Year 9 to Year 11), available both during school holidays and in school time.
We think secondary school students have limited access to structured activities which can lead to boredom, disengagement, and missed opportunities to develop important life skills. We believe work experience programmes could allow students to gain hands-on experience in areas such as construction, hair and beauty, catering, childcare, and other trades, helping them build confidence, responsibility, and practical skills. This should be conducted within safeguarding and child employment laws, with suitable limited working hours.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
