Introduce mandatory rest time between calls for call centre workers
Require employers in call centres and high-volume customer service roles to provide a minimum rest period between customer interactions to protect workers’ mental health and wellbeing.
Many call centre and customer service workers are required to handle continuous back-to-back calls with little or no time to recover between interactions. This can lead to high levels of stress, anxiety and burnout, seriously affecting mental health and wellbeing. We believe the Government should introduce legislation to require a minimum rest period between calls to protect workers and promote healthier, more sustainable working conditions.
