Increase mileage allowance for care workers in line with rising fuel costs
We want the Government to review and increase the mileage allowance rate for care workers so it reflects current fuel prices and the true cost of using a personal vehicle for work.
Care workers provide essential support to vulnerable people, but many struggle to afford the cost of travel. Mileage rates have not kept pace with rising fuel and vehicle costs, leaving workers out of pocket. Some are reducing hours or leaving the sector. This is worsening staff shortages and affecting care quality and continuity. The Government must act to ensure fair mileage rates that reflect real costs and protect workers and those who rely on them.
