Reverse the ban on new North Sea oil and gas exploration licences
Reverse the ban on new North Sea oil and gas exploration licences to reduce the UK's dependence on imported energy and protect households from volatile global energy prices.
Household energy bills remain 35% above pre-crisis levels. Norway alone supplies nearly half the gas the UK consumes, and without new licences, the UK could be importing 80% of its gas within a decade. Every geopolitical crisis hits British families through higher bills. Maximising domestic production would support 200,000 jobs, generate billions in tax revenue, and reduce our dangerous exposure to global markets we don't control.
