Ensure equal NHS-funded IVF access for all same-sex couples.
Same-sex couples face unequal access to NHS IVF, often required to self-fund treatment unlike heterosexual couples. We ask the Government to ensure equal, fair access based on clinical need, in line with the Equality Act 2010 and NHS principles.
Access to NHS IVF varies by region, with many same-sex couples required to self-fund multiple IUI cycles before qualifying, unlike heterosexual couples. This creates unequal access and financial burden. Under the Equality Act 2010, this may be discriminatory. The NHS Constitution and NICE guidelines support access based on clinical need. Same-sex couples should not face additional barriers to treatment.
