Protect the Continued Use of BTU Measurements in the UK Heating Industry
Require the Government to confirm there are no plans to remove BTU from use and to formally support dual labelling (watts and BTU) across all heating products. Ensure any regulatory or industry changes are subject to full consultation to protect clarity, continuity, and fair transition.
BTU has been the standard reference across the heating industry for decades and remains widely understood by manufacturers, suppliers, installers, and consumers. A shift toward watt-only specifications risks confusion, costly retraining, and disruption to established practices and systems. Many existing installations and specifications rely on BTU, and removing it could create inefficiencies, errors, and unnecessary expense. Retaining both units supports consistency, and a smoother transition.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We are not clear what action you are seeking from the UK Government or Parliament, as this is not something which the Government has announced that it will do.
