Cap the Cost of School Uniforms in the UK
Introduce a legal cap on the cost of compulsory school uniform items, limit the number of branded items schools can require, and require schools to allow affordable alternatives from supermarkets or other retailers.
School uniforms are often unnecessarily expensive due to exclusive suppliers and compulsory branded items. This puts pressure on families, especially during the cost of living crisis. Clear national rules would make uniforms affordable, reduce inequality, and ensure no student is disadvantaged because of cost.
