Call on the UK Government to require that all animals slaughtered for meat in the United Kingdom are effectively stunned before slaughter, without exception, and to prohibit the Scientific and veterinary experts, including the British Veterinary Association, have long maintained that slaughter without pre-stunning can cause unnecessary suffering. Consumers should be assured that all meat sold in the UK meets the same high welfare standards.
We urge the Government to end exemptions for non-stun slaughter and to ban the import, sale, and distribution of meat from animals slaughtered without pre-stunning. and sale of meat from animals slaughtered without pre-stunning.
