Protect pet owners from unaffordable insurance premium increases
Introduce rules requiring clear disclosure of long-term premium increases and protections against excessive rises. Ensure customers are not trapped in unaffordable policies when they cannot switch due to age or pre-existing conditions.
Pet insurance premiums can increase significantly over time with no clear limit, and this is not always clearly explained at the outset. When pets age or develop medical conditions, owners are often unable to switch insurers due to exclusions for pre-existing conditions. This leaves customers effectively locked into policies with rising and potentially unaffordable costs.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The terms of insurance are a matter for insurance companies. We are not sure what changes you would like to make to existing regulation that requires terms and pricing to be clear.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, such as setting a legal cap.
