Abolish the TV Licence Fee: Time for Change
We call on the UK Government and Parliament to abolish the TV licence fee and implement a more modern, voluntary, and sustainable funding model for the BBC.
The TV licence system unfairly forces individuals to prove they don’t use live TV services, instead of requiring authorities to prove non-compliance. When people state they don’t need a licence, they’re often visited by inspectors who pressure them to allow entry, attempting to coerce them into buying a licence. These tactics are invasive and cause unnecessary stress, particularly for vulnerable groups. This outdated system needs to be replaced with one that respects personal choice and fairness.
