Stop the building on Glenfield rewilded golf course
Stop the building of houses, an employment area, and traveller pitches on Glenfields’ rewilded golf course because it will erase valuable habitat, reduce biodiversity gains, and increase local traffic. Protecting restored green space supports wildlife, climate resilience, and community well-being.
It is home to many birds, insects and small mammals, offering vital biodiversity. The open green space gives children a safe place to play and families to gather. Dog walkers rely on it daily, and access to nature here supports mental health and wellbeing across the community.
Losing this space would fragment habitats and reduce already limited urban green areas. It also naturally absorbs rainwater, so building here would increase flood risk and runoff, putting nearby homes and roads under greater pressure during heavy rainfall.
